While trigger thumb is not as common as trigger finger, it is one of those conditions that stumps practitioners and can be stubborn. Also, the approach is similar to that used in trigger finger. In this webinar, Anthony goes through the etiology of trigger finger, anatomy involved, repetitive stress injuries, role of soft tissue manual therapy, gua sha, and electro-acupuncture protocols that can be used for trigger thumb.

Objectives:

  • Understand what neurogenic inflammation and neuromodulation are
  • Review repetitive stress injury and the law of repetitive motion
  • Learn the key anatomy involved in trigger thumb including finger pulleys, muscles and tendons involved
  • Understand the role of manual therapy in tissue healing and trigger thumb and keys to manual therapy
  • Review treatment protocols that can be used including gua sha, muscle release, and electro-acupuncture

Dr. Anthony Lombardi is a 2002 graduate of the New York Chiropractic College and McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture program in Hamilton, Ontario, and has been practicing acupuncture for nearly 20 years. Upon graduation, he founded Hamilton Back Clinic and since then has become a private consultant to athletes in the NFL, CFL, and NHL. In addition to practicing, Dr. Lombardi was also an instructor in the Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program at McMaster University from 2004 to 2013. Over his career Anthony has given over 170,000 acupuncture treatments for MSK conditions, pain, sports injuries, and more.
In 2011 Dr Lombardi developed his EXSTORE™ system, which includes assessment, motor points, electro-acupuncture, and more. He teaches EXSTORE to practitioners the world over through in-person and on-demand education. Dr. Lombardi’s library continues to grow, with some 70 webinars available covering assessment and treatment for a variety of MSK and pain conditions, as well as practice management. In his private practice, Dr. Lombardi sees on averages 150 patient visits, including 12 NEW patients, every week.
